T-shirt Quilts and Memory Lane

Two years ago, I made this t-shirt quilt in exchange for personal training. What I wouldn't give to have that opportunity right now. It was a great blend of creativity and sweat. Focused exercise with intent and a larger goal is the only way I stick with it and truly don't mind it. After several months of PT, sweat, and motivation, I participated in a sprint triathelon. I have a hard time connecting creativity and exercise. My friends get an earful about my philosohies on the disconnect between creative self and sporty self. For me, they are extreme strangers.

The shirts in this quilt are the many triathelons my trainer (and then eventually friend) has participated in. Please note, the arrangement of shirts was a non-negotiable; they were important to her in a chronological order. Too bad, because it would have been nice to break up the three triangles.

I'm seeking a similar wellspring, now. It's the same story and same dance I repeat year after year. Once I'm commited, will some please remind me not to stop??

On June 12th, I'm participating in the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange. Things around here are nuts with scads of sewing and ironing and pinning. There is not time to write. Sew sew sew.

This new Coffee Klatsch is exciting!

I am so thoroughly excited about the newest round of Coffee Klatsches. Appropriately named, The Business Edition, each is made from suiting or shirting that is recycled from quilt making or found vintage fabrics. I love when your craft is refined through practice and focused time spent. I have worked very diligently this week sewing oodles of these (and other types) of Coffee Klatches. I'm feeling pleased.

<---------working on the new logo for Coffee Klatsch by Crimson Tate :: Modern Quilter. The drawing will suffice. I'm not sure yet about the pattern on the Coffee Klatsch itself.

Photo shoot, not quite done but it was a fun hike to play outside for sure. Just two days after I took these photos at Lester River here in Duluth, a MOOSE was seen wandering through the same area. Dang. Why couldn't he have shown up when my ittyBetty teeny tiny blankies and I were out there?

I've been listening to the Boulder, Colorado band, The Samples. They've helped me power through a few marathon quilting sessions recently. I just finished sewing a store sample for Hannah Johnson Fabrics here in Duluth. I've been commissioned to sew a few store samples. So far so good. The projects requested of me deal with fabrics and designs I particularly like.

Back to the studio. Always.

Quilts, Quilts, Quilts

I've just been thinking about all of the quilts that have been made and sold from 2009. It's exciting as things grow. Slow growth is good. It prevents pains and aches. Thus far I am pleased with the pace that Crimson Tate has taken. I'm sure it'll be time for resolutions but before then, I'm enjoying this breath of cold Minnesota air. Soon.
